This holiday book exchange is inspired by the concept of Jólabókaflóð:

Jólabókaflóðið (Icelandic for "The book flood of Christmas") is the annual flood of new books in Iceland occurring in the months before Christmas every year. Its name refers to the fact that new books are generally published only during the Christmas season in Iceland.

Everyone who signs up will be randomly assigned a person to send a book to -- this may be any book written in the English language, so long as it is one that you think a fellow reader might be interested in reading.  In return, you will receive a surprise physical book, audiobook, or e-book.

• You will be asked to confirm your commitment to participating. If you are unable to commit, then we ask that you decline participating, so as to avoid disappointing others.
• Please mail a book out by mid-January.
• You may be mailing a book to an international address. (Need help with finding international booksellers? Check out the FAQs.)
• You may have signed up to receive a digital book, but your assignment may be to mail a physical book, and vice versa.
• Please consider supporting independent bookstores (see the FAQs for some options).
• In the spirit of environmental friendliness, please consider sending a gently used physical book, or signing up to receive a digital book.
• As a guideline, please try to keep it under $20-25 (USD).
